End-of-life uniforms

Uniforms that are no longer fit for service, whether that's end of contract, rebrand, or just worn out. We handle them responsibly, and we can work with whatever you've got, a one-off clear-out or an ongoing stream. Documentation and reporting are available if you want to track your impact. And if you need any parts returned, we'll send them back in one of our reusable fabric courier bags.

Unsold stock

Unsold or excess clothing stock that's taking up space and heading nowhere useful, we can redistribute it, keeping these resources out of landfill and getting them into grateful hands. We can debrand it if needed, or even upcycle items into something different to protect your designs from being redistributed.

An organic partnership

Textile Rescue's relationship with Alsco Uniforms began not with a contract, but with a simple request for help.

For textiles to be recycled well, they need to be clean. As a small community-led textile rescue initiative working with op shops and other charities, we needed a laundering partner big enough to absorb our volume with ease and who shared our sustainability focus. When approached, Alsco Uniforms opened their door and gave their services freely to the cause.

From there, the relationship grew naturally. We began to prepare their end-of-life uniforms for recycling through Textile Products, where they are transformed into new products such as Retex rolls and boards, mattresses, signage, packaging and construction site protection.

In return, we recover zips and RFID tags from those uniforms and send them back for reuse in their repair department. When Alsco Uniforms had retired bed sheets to pass on, they offered them to us to share through community pathways, including Butterfly Compassion Community, the Red Cross Curtain Bank here in Palmerston North and our own repurposing projects.

What has emerged is a practical, reciprocal partnership where ideas and support flow freely, and the partnership grows stronger with time.
